World of Warcraft Item Upgrades Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the upgrade type, it may increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, and also boost other stats. Each item has a track to upgrade it. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specified amount. Item Level When an item gets upgraded, its base stats improve in value. This value is the total of all its upgraded perks (attack, magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader you choose and what type of upgrade you choose to perform. This is due to the variety of perks that have to be altered to upgrade an item. Item level is a widely used measure of power, and is visible on all item tooltips. It is also used as a gating requirement while waiting for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear (since PvP is limited to a lower level). Players can view their average level of items on their character sheet. Using the item level can help players compare the strength of equipment when they decide to buy or sell. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and how much damage it will be able to deal. The level of the item can be used to compare items when examining a vendor's inventory. The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the item's full description, including the ilvl. It can also be found by hovering over an item with the mouse cursor and entering /itemlevel into chat. There are several theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory is that the item level is a number derived from a formula that calculates the amount an item's stats are worth. It is based on the fact that different perks are valued differently, and that gems in the sockets increase the item's value. All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window and pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items which can be used to add to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other rerolling options. In addition to rerolling affixes, players can select which stats to keep on an item when it is upgraded. The stat ranges are determined by the item's level. However, all items will contain at least one stat in the same range, unless it's an exclusive item, or an item that has a God Roll from a boss in a raid. This is another thing that could be changed by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes or choosing which stats to enhance. Like the base equipment, it must be done per item and the interface for item comparison would not display all the possible stats at once. Item Luck The Luck stat of a player can increase the chance of finding items and the properties that are created by loot and the intensity of these properties. However, it does not, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game and is thus more valuable in the early game than in later ones, because most players value higher weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain. In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chance of upgrading, which increase with each new level of item. These can also be enhanced by using anti-materials such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing. item upgrader , armor and weapons come with the default Luck value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to increase the value of 40 luck, or to increase the Luck of an item up to 140. Certain items, like the weapon with Hollow-infused components can also be crafted to increase the damage of any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items are available in the shops or made with the right ingredients. Item Failure Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an upgrade or to stop players from losing their item if it does not work. When you upgrade an item, the success rate is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading that item, and can be enhanced by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The percentage of success can only be increased so high, and the probability that the upgrade will fail cannot exceed 100%.. The luck of an item can affect the effectiveness of an upgrade. Every item has an overall success rate of 25%, and each item with Luck increases the chance of success by five percent. It is important to note that upgrade item s are rendered above the items in the inventory which means that enchantment glints and other effects may be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
